The Rotary Club of Blowing Rock is partnering with the Rotary Clubs of Highlands and Merbalais, Haiti, to complete a project in Cange, Haiti. This project will ultimately result in adding a cluster of 6 classrooms in the LePlaide School in Cange.
We are working with the other clubs on a Global Grant for the project that will allow the Blowing Rock and Highlands clubs to multiply their contributions to provide $40,000 to complete the classrooms.
Our club completed a mission to Haiti in May 2014 to offer eye and dental care as well as some planning for the upcoming school addition project. Organized by International Services Chair Alice Salthouse, two other Blowing Rock Rotary club members helped out. Retired ophthalmologist Van Joffiron donated $2000 worth of eye care equipment and performed eye exams while there. 2013-14 Vice President Basil Kuzyzsyn assisted with dental care.
